Gliding along as inky calligraphy, dub techno is the murmur of vibrations pressed between buildings of countless floors stacked like crisp printer paper. In the empty air that surrounds them, that dizzy sensorium of sound floods like the fuzzy imperfections in typeface rendered in toner. Slow shifting progressions like the air’s humidity, a moody dance of calculated drums march to Add-a-Ball this May to study the deep nuances of the most muted of techno. Feel the deep glow drip through the skies into the hills of Seattle with us in these infrastructures of reflective sound.
Inspired by labels like West Mineral and Erstwhile, along with artists such as Lee Bontecou, psn dmg (Poison Damage) has honed in a style of ambient dub that obscures the line between natural and industrial worlds. Corroded field recordings rhythmically stumble their way through transient soundscapes on their recent release KSA (Kansas Ambient), exploring the threshold between earthen and artifical.
Flying in from Kansas City, they will be performing an atmospheric DJ set of high energy dub techno that playfully skirts on the edges of the genres possibilities. You can listen and purchase KSA on Plaster Fe’s Bandcamp here.
The dark, dirging rhythmic noise powerhouse Paintscratcher, who featured at a show stopping set at last year’s Scream Pool event, is joined by the longtime Fax Gang producer/club music tinkerer GLACIERbaby and Sorbet Sheepdog, the new and exciting return to electronic, poppy territory for longtime Seattle vet Numbers Power of Floral Tattoo. The three meet minds to bring Impact! a standout B2B2B performance in the form of Divine Hammer, weaving and breaking each other’s individual perspectives of how far the dubby, dark, deep and minimal depths of dance music can go.
